In Patient Care
The IPU (In Patient Unit) team is made up of nurses, counselors, volunteers, chaplaincy and doctors. We are able to access Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy through Whangarei Hospital.
We know that people do not know what to expect when coming into “the Hospice” so we encourage a homely atmosphere. There are no set visiting hours and family are welcome to stay overnight. Unfortunately as we only have limited beds we are unable to offer long term care in the inpatient unit. Please remember, the “norm” is for people to go home again. Sometimes, the advice we give may be that care needs to be looked for in a community hospital with hospice input.
There is no charge for the coming into North Haven. Many of the things you will enjoy about the environment have been generously given by people in the community, including our wonderful volunteers who give freely of their time in the unit.
