Get to know our regular customers and the ever changing stock; Display our donations to look their best.

Retail experience is useful but not essential and how to display stock effectively

Orientation and being partnered with a buddy will help you learn your role and settle in

Grow your selling skills and confidence; development potential to be a team leader

PROCESSING CENTRE

Afternoons Monday to Saturday

Processing donations at our processing centre

Volunteers check / process all donations for type, condition and value, they then price ready for sale

No specific requirements.

Orientation and being partnered with a buddy will help you learn your role and settle in

Have fun making new friends; Development opportunities as a team leader or merchandiser

TRUCK DRIVING: LOADING & UNLOADING

All day

Monday to Saturday

Small truck driving

Volunteers sort, load and unload donations to move them from processing to sales at our shops

A clean drivers licence, fit and able to life and carry in a safe manner

Orientation into your role at the shop and with other truck drivers

Other roles in retail and hospice based work

CURRENT HOSPICE BASED VOLUNTEER VACANCIES

NORTH HAVEN HOSPICE TIKIPUNGA

Tuesdays, 12pm - 4pm.

Wednesdays, 4pm - 8pm.

Fridays, 12pm - 4pm.

Saturdays (2nd and 4th), 4pm - 8pm.

In Patient Unit (IPU) Volunteer

Helping nursing staff care for patients and families, including being with and listening, hospitalisty and some housekeeping.

Be physically active and a quick thinker. Enjoy being with and helping people.

Hospice provides thorough preparation of role. One two-hour session with trainer, then four four-hour shifts with trainer.

Dependant on your personal interest and ability. Helps get you into healthcare career positions, Duke of Edinburgh Award criteria and university applications.

COMMUNITY CARER RESPITE VISITOR / DRIVER

Time decided between volunteer and  patient/carer

Visitor for patients/ respite for carer

Give patients a friendly visitor for a couple of hours, and give the carer some respite time out

Trained through our IPU training first

Hospice provides thorough preparation of role and support

Free online and hospice-based courses

DRIVING PATIENTS AND CARERS

Time can be connected to our Living Well Programme or other needs

Community driving

Taking patients to appointments from home/hospice, shopping trips, outings in Whangarei

A clean drivers licence, enjoy being with people

Hospice provides thorough preparation of role. Mandatory essential skills  & induction

A wide range of roles dependant on personal interest & ability
