In-Patient Unit Volunteering


Assist nurses and healthcare assistants to provide care and support to patients and their families/whanau in our IPU. 

This includes patient care of listening and company; looking after meal selection/reheating and delivery; hospitality towards family/whanau visiting, some housekeeping (laundry and emergency bedroom preparation) company, on-site walks.

IPU Volunteer 4-hourly, permanent and casual shifts available

  • Weekly
  • Fortnightly, or
  • Monthly


Aged 16-plus, the ability to read and write, work under pressure and as specified by nurses. Be patient focused and open to personal growth. Any gender welcome.

Training you will receive:

One 2-hour orientation session with a team trainer and four x 4-hour shifts with team trainers. Within 12 months, mandatory essential skills training provided.
