A well-known and supported charitable and social enterprise, established in 1985, North Haven Hospice serves people living with a life limiting illness, their families and whānau from Bland Bay to Mangawhai as well as providing the only Hospice in-patient unit for all of Te Tai Tokerau Northland.

Sales from our retail stores contribute directly to those in need with the success of our stores reliant on volunteer availability and goodwill.

Te a hua a Te Turanga – The Nature of the Position.

We a seeking a skilled and experienced person to build, administer and coordinate an effective, responsive, and innovative volunteer service for North Haven Hospice retail outlets in Whangarei, Waipu, Mangawhai and Ruakaka.  This is a big role. You will be involved in the recruitment, retention, orientation, and orientation of volunteers. You will manage all administrative duties relevant to the role and assist with day-to-day operational activities to help you develop training opportunities for volunteers. As an ambassador for the North Haven Hospice retail volunteer service you will network with other community organisations to enhance the profile of volunteering in our shops.

To be successful in this role you will have people skills second to none, not to mention administration, database management and computer skills, including competency in using the Microsoft Office Suite.

A confident relationship builder, facilitator, and coach, with experience across a broad range of people are key to this role. You will have proven adaptability and agility to work in a busy and ever-changing environment, able to lead by example and support teams.  A problem solver and decision maker, you inspire others and implement change. You will also be an empathetic, compassionate, and patient team player.
