The position of Registered Nurse (Casual) encompasses the following key areas of responsibility:

Our Core Requirements:
Know, uphold and model the values, philosophy, policies and standards of North Haven Hospice and current recommended best practice standards relevant to the position.
Keep informed about and comply with legal and regulatory requirements including any code of conduct relevant to the position.
Honour the Treaty of Waitangi, respecting the beliefs and values of those who identify as Maori, supporting tikanga practices as they are incorporated into hospice care and services.
Respect the beliefs and values of all people including those of particular cultural, religious, social and/or ethnic groups.
Participate in performance review and development, including attending training relevant to the position.
Act as an ambassador for hospice in the community through work and own social networks whilst maintaining the confidentiality of individuals and not acting or speaking on behalf of or representing North Haven Hospice unless so authorised by the Chief Executive Officer.
Essential: New Zealand Registered Nurse. Must have a current practising certificate as well as a Current NZ Class 1 (motor car) driver’s licence. At least 2 years post registration nursing experience and experience working in palliative care nursing.
Desirable: Relevant post-graduate qualification or working towards.

We are offering a unique opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our inspiring Community Team at North Haven Hospice who make a profound difference everyday delivering holistic, patient-centred care to patients and their whānau (families) within Tai Tokerau.

About the Role & Your Impact
North Haven Hospice provides high quality care to people living with a life limiting or life-threatening conditions across the Whangārei and southeast Kaipara Districts. Our care is provided across all settings – including the home, outpatient clinics, Whangarei Base Hospital and within our specialist North Haven Hospice Inpatient Unit.
We walk alongside the hospital, and the wider service that patients are engaged with. We work collaboratively with our communities and have an amazing team of specialist doctors, nurses, therapists, family support staff and volunteers.
Our Community Nursing Service is often the first point of contact with the Palliative care services of North Haven Hospice, and we aim to provide high quality nursing care and wrap around services, utilising our resources within North Haven Hospice. Within the greater Whangarei locality our community nursing team provide all aspects of community nursing services, in addition to psychosocial and advisory support.

We are delighted to introduce a new opportunity within our Inpatient Unit (IPU) nursing team — a role designed to make a genuine difference in the lives of patients and provide essential support to their families and whānau.
This part-time position (am and pm shifts only)offers the chance to deliver compassionate, personalised care to individuals living with life-limiting conditions. We are seeking a dedicated Enrolled Nurse who is passionate about palliative care and committed to working collaboratively within a supportive, values-driven team.
At North Haven Hospice we work collaboratively with other services to develop an understanding of, and to practice, quality supportive care in our community for those with a terminal illness or life-limiting condition.

Nature of the role / te āhuatanga o te tūranga
You will be working within a supportive, values driven team who are passionate about palliative care. In this role you will:
· Practice safely and professionally, guided by clinical, cultural, ethical, and legislative standards in palliative care nursing.
· Deliver thoughtful, effective care to individuals with complex needs, ensuring dignity and comfort at every stage.
· Build therapeutic relationships through kind, clear communication with patients, families, whānau, and our interdisciplinary team.
· Contribute to quality improvement, helping us continuously enhance the delivery of specialist palliative care.
· Uphold core organisational responsibilities, supporting a culture of excellence, safety, and compassion.
What you will bring / ngā pūkenga mō tēneitūranga
To be considered for this role, you will need to be a New Zealand Registered Enrolled Nurse with a minimum of 2years’ experience, and current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
