About the Role
This 25 hours per week, hands-on position is responsible for maintaining our buildings, grounds, clinical equipment, and non-medical assets to a high standard. You will also play an important part in delivering and collecting clinical loan equipment for patients in the community and supporting safe contractor activity on site.

About the Role

As a Social Worker at North Haven Hospice, you’ll provide specialist social work support to people with complex needs, helping patients and their whānau navigate challenging situations with care and clarity.
You will work closely with ourmulti‑disciplinary team, supporting decision‑making, advocating for social needs, facilitating family meetings, and contributing to care planning that empowers whānau and honours what matters most to them.
This is a permanent position, based in Whangārei and serving the wider Te Tai Tokerau region.
What You’ll Do
- Provide skilled assessments and therapeutic social work support for patients, families and whānau.
- Offer guidance on systems navigation,decision‑making, advocacy, and resource access.
- Work collaboratively within amulti‑disciplinary team.
- Participate in bereavement support, including calls, visits, and Remembrance Services.
- Build strong relationships with community agencies.
- Engage in ongoing supervision and professional development.
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- Registered Social Worker with a current practising certificate.
- NZ Class 1 driver’s licence.
- Strong competence in professional social work practice.
- Computer literacy.
Desirable:
- Experience in health, palliative care, or community settings.
- Understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga.

It plays an important role in fostering a respectful, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture that reflects the organisation’s values and commitment to care.
Working closely with leaders and staff, the Co-ordinator People and Culture ensures people processes are consistent, well-communicated, and efficiently delivered. · Contribute to quality improvement, helping us continuously enhance the delivery of specialist palliative care.
· Uphold core organisational responsibilities, supporting a culture of excellence, safety, and compassion.
What you will bring / ngā pūkenga mō tēneitūranga
To be considered for this role, you will need to be a New Zealand Registered Enrolled Nurse with a minimum of 2years’ experience, and current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
