At North Haven Hospice, we aim to provide the best possible care and support to those with a life-limiting condition or terminal illness. We are so much more than dying and we are here to wrap a cloak of care around these people, their whānau and families.
We are dedicated to keeping our services free of charge for everyone who needs them but continue to rely on the generosity of our communities to make this possible.
Every dollar raised within our community, stays within our community.
Government funding from Te Whatu Ora is confirmed on an annual basis, usually covering only about half of our annual operating costs. And demand for our services is growing.
We rely on donations, fundraising events, gifts in wills, grants, and proceeds from our North Haven Hospice charity shops in Whangārei, Mangawhai, Ruakākā, and Waipu. Every contribution helps us continue to offer our services at no cost.
Your donation, big or small, makes a significant impact. Whether you choose to donate just the once, set up a regular automatic payment, or leave a gift in your will, you are directly supporting your community and keeping our care accessible to all who need it.
Donations over $5 are eligible for tax rebates. Our Charities Register number is CC 25574
Women are at the heart of life's journey. As caregivers, mothers, daughters, sisters, and more, we are connected to the circle of life.
North Haven Hospice invites 100 women to pledge $500 each year for 5 years - just $10 a week - to support our life services for those facing the end of life.
There are many ways you can donate and your donation, big or small, makes a significant impact.
Whether its a monetary donation, second-hand goods or donating your time, every little bit helps.
Make a donation anytime or set up regular donations that suit you – weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, or even yearly.

Leaving a gift in your will is a powerful way to invest in the future of North Haven Hospice and our services. You may also hear it referred to as a bequest.
If you choose to leave North Haven Hospice a gift in your will, no matter how small or large, you will be helping us to be here tomorrow, and every year after to give the same care to your family, whānau or friends.
We understand you will ensure your family and loved ones are financially supported first. If the opportunity follows to leave a charitable gift, we would be humbled and enormously grateful should you include North Haven Hospice in your selection.
Choose how you’d like to leave us something.
Talk to your family so they are aware of what you would like and intend to do.
You will need to include your gift in your will, that it is written, signed and witnessed properly as a legal document, so it is valid and your wishes are followed.
It is important to get the right wording so your gift does what you intend it to do. If you want your gift to help us in our every day work and contribute to the priorities of the time, please use the following words:
“I give to North Haven Hospice Society Incorporated, (x% of my estate, or the residue of my estate, or sum of money, or a description of property or assets), for general purposes, or for which the receipt of the Chief Executive Officer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees.”
If you would like your gift to be invested in an investment fund instead, and only the interest earned from that fund to be used for day-to-day costs, please use the following words:
“I give to North Haven Hospice Endowment Trust, (x% of my estate, or the residue of my estate, or sum of money, or a description of property or assets), for investment purposes, or for which the receipt of the Chief Executive Officer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees.”
If you like, you can let us know you have arranged to leave us a gift in your will, without having to give us any the details. It’s perfectly fine if you’d rather keep it private too!
